RTI (Part 4): Putting It All Together
|
Wrap Up
The RTI approach is multifaceted. Effective implementation requires extensive knowledge of the underlying principles of the approach, of the components of high-quality instruction, and of the assessment procedures. To achieve full implementation of RTI, the following should be considered:
- It may be beneficial to initially implement only one component of the approach (e.g., progress monitoring) and later introduce other components (e.g., tier decision-making, universal screening).
- This process may take several years.
Various aspects of RTI are presented in three separate IRIS modules. This module has attempted to synthesize the information presented in these modules:
 |
RTI Part 1: Overview |
 |
RTI Part 2: Assessment |
 |
RTI Part 3: Reading Instruction |
The movie below summarizes Mr. Brewster's experience with the multiple aspects of RTI.
