federal laws

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)—previously referred to as the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)—and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA ’04) work together to raise expectations for students with disabilities to participate to the maximum extent possible in the general education classroom and in state and district testing. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) reauthorized the ESEA in 2015 and will go into effect in fall 2017.
