Activity: Scheduling

Below, on the left, is a scheduling table broken into 30-minute segments. On the right are the subjects (including recess) that the second-grade teachers need to include in their schedules. Help Mr. Brewster plan his schedule by dragging each subject onto the scheduling table.

Keep in mind the following when planning Mr. Brewster’s schedule:

  • All subjects must be included in the schedule
  • Reading and Math must be scheduled at least 30 minutes apart
  • Because of the other second-grade teachers’ schedules, Computer/Library/Spanish must occur in the morning

Note: Some “specials” share a common time period across the week. For example, PE meets M, W, F; Music meets T; and Art meets Th in the same time slot.

(Please note that there is no one correct answer to this activity.)

Did you schedule Computer/ Library/ Spanish in the morning?

Other considerations for scheduling:

  • There will be transition time between classes.
  • Regardless of who is providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention, teachers will need to designate time for this extra reading support.
