This module highlights the benefits of person-centered transition planning for students with disabilities. It addresses strategies for engaging students throughout the transition planning process and highlights considerations for shifting to a more person-centered approach (est. completion time: 2 hours).
Objectives
By completing this module and the accompanying activities, the learner will be able to:
- Explain the benefits of person-centered transition planning
- Define self-determination
- Identify strategies for involving students in transition assessments, goal development, and monitoring progress toward goals
- Describe ways to support students’ leadership of IEP meetings
- Explain the roles of various IEP team members within person-centered transition planning
