implemeting the plan ovalTo implement RTI, schools need to develop guidelines concerning RTI-related procedures. These guidelines should provide information on how the school will implement the primary RTI components: high-quality instruction, frequent assessment, tiered interventions, and data-based decision making. A written record of these guidelines (i.e., a manual) will help school personnel implement RTI with fidelity.

Fidelity of implementation is the extent to which staff adhere to procedures as they were designed, intended, and planned by the validation research.

Ms. Hooper, the newly hired RTI coach, then uses this information to create the manual, the Mayflower Elementary RTI Guidelines. Ms. Hooper meets with Mr. Irwin to discuss how to structure the manual and what information to include. Click on each tab on the manual below to examine Mayflower’s guidelines and learn how the school will implement RTI.

School personnel should create guidelines for RTI to help ensure that all school personnel are implementing the components correctly. Such guidelines can also help school personnel to follow the established rules and criteria for both monitoring student progress and making data-based decisions.
